The one common thread for me every time I've moved is that I'd slowly get my marquee pieces then I'd layer in my decor. Now, this isn't because I have amazing self-control -- I wish! But for me, it's a few things that keep my impulses in check, with budget reigning in at #1.
Read MoreTime and time again you hear about what isn't possible as a renter, with one of those things being wallpapering! But to be fair, almost no one likes to wallpaper, not even homeowners, because when you think of the removal process all you know is that it sucks! This is why I've been a long time fan of removable (or "peel and stick") wallpaper.
Read MoreWhen you search “bedrooms for little girls” on Pinterest, you get a hodgepodge of ideas from inspiration rooms to diy projects, so needless to say I had to think long & hard about exactly what my vision for her room would be. My daughter has had all of one request — pink! I put together a design that featured a mix of colors & textures that would be soft enough of for a little girl, but also chic & timeless, because the last thing I wanted was to change her room every couple of months.
Read MoreI can't tell you how many times I will see someone purchase an amazing console table & then just leave it there -- at the entryway, behind the sofa, along the hall wall -- naked & unstyled. While the ultimate style of a vignette comes down to your personal aesthetic, there are certain basic elements you can keep in mind to make pulling the look together fun & easy.
Read MoreIf you've been hanging out with me in real life or virtually for any length of time you know that I am an unapologetic shopaholic -- much to the chagrin of my husband & wallet -- but what you may not know is exactly where I love to shop. Topping that list for YEARS is Amazon, and for that reason, I am a PROUD "card-carrying" Prime member.
Read MoreI told you all the decisions and thought process leading up to our choice to give our daughter her own room. And while I also slightly touched is on what this meant, design-wise, I didn’t really get into the specifics of what a room swap could really unfold into.

Read MoreI don’t know at what age (for your child) that you stop being a “new parent” or “first-time parent” but I know for us as new, first time parents, it took us a while before we decided to give our daughter her own room.
Read MoreAas a mom and wife, obviously my home is no longer just MY home. My decisions have to be made with my husband and daughter in mind, but more so my daughter; and a question I get A LOT is how I can have nice things with a toddler.
Read MoreWork is important but so is family. I don't want to sacrifice my ambitions but I also don't want to scar my daughter. When she sees mommy working, is she impressed by my drive or is she resentful of the perceived neglect? I'm am truly grateful to have a husband that supports what I do & who constantly reassures me that I'm doing great, but if I ever had any doubts before, I am certainly convinced now that men and women are just wired differently because he'll never truly understand why I feel guilty.
Read MoreI’ve never had clients question this — they’re hiring me for a conceptual design, the ability to see their space in a way that they can’t, to pull all the pieces together, and to provide them with the tools to execute their dreamscape. And yet this is a question I often get from other designers — why do I only do conceptual designs?
Read MoreI was blessed & honored to be invited to be a speaker on the E-Design panel at High Point Spring Market (#HPMKT). Not only did I get to speak on something I love alongside women I admire, but I also got to meet with the founder of #thedesignnetwork & co-owner of the WORLD's largest furniture store, #furniturelandsouth. I left this MASSIVE furniture campus feeling more than inspired, so I hope it does the same for you!
Read MoreSpring Is In The Air!! Read MoreEven before we officially decided to move, I would fantasize about designing wherever we would end up -- floor planning, coordinating color schemes, wish listing -- doing all the things I would do for a client.
Fast forward, to when we started doing apartment tours and then to when ultimately chose a place, I was super excited about having a space to really flex my design muscle (not for lack of trying in our NYC studio).
Read MoreSo if you read my space saving post on cribs, then you already know I’m a proponent of the mini crib. Saves space and money, and as a first-time mom, that’s all we ever really need more of (well that and sleep, lots and lots of sleep).
Even though we know we wanted a mini crib, we had no clue which to choose. We decided on the DaVinci Alpha for one main reason — it rocks (literally and figuratively).
